Golden Eagles earn third-place finish at 3C2A Dual Team State Championships
FRESNO – The inaugural Lemoore College women's wrestling team continued its historic season by taking third place in the silver bracket of the 2026 3C2A Dual Team State Championships. The event took place on March 7 at Fresno City College.
16 teams from throughout the state competed in two brackets with the Golden Eagles placed in the silver bracket for the state championship event. Lemoore went 2-1 at the state tourney, with wins over Modesto (24-19) and Skyline (30-20) before ultimately falling in the championship match 34-20 to Palomar.
Lemoore opened the state tourney with the 24-19 win over Modesto. Highlights from the victory included Sage Reyes pinning her opponent at the 160-pound division and a technical fall win by Esperanza Ortiz Cadena at 180.
The Golden Eagles followed that with a 30-20 triumph over Skyline in the semifinals. Ana Quezada (117), Mia Meno (138), and Suri Falakfarsa (145) all won their matches by pin to contributed five team points each.
But Lemoore saw its run come to an end in the silver championship final match against Palomar, falling 34-20. Quezada (117) and Reyes (160) each won their second match of the tournament by fall to highlight the Golden Eagles' effort.
The Lemoore women's wrestling team is back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 25) when the Golden Eagles compete at home for the first and only time this season. Lemoore is set to host Bakersfield College in a dual match that gets underway at 6 p.m. at Golden Eagle Arena.
