Golden Eagles Complete Successful Weekend of Wrestling
SANTA ANA – The Lemoore College wrestling team wrapped up another impressive weekend of action. On Saturday, the Golden Eagles had five wrestlers place among the top-six on their way to a sixth-place team finish at the Santa Ana College Invitational.
Lemoore was led by a third-place individual finish by Juan Nuno in the 184-pound weight class as he compiled a 3-1 record at the tourney. Nuno was edged 4-3 in the semifinals but bounced back to defeat Sebastian Anderson of Palomar College by an 11-7 decision in the third-place match.
The Golden Eagles got a pair of fourth-place showings from Nate Kaiser at the 125-weight class and Diego Nuno at 285. Damian Valdez took fifth at 165 pounds while Joey Clark was sixth at 174.
On Friday, the Golden Eagles competed in a pair of dual matches on the road and took both. Lemoore opened the morning with a narrow 27-24 win at Moorpark College and closed out the day with a 40-11 rout at East Los Angeles College.
Lemoore is back in action next Saturday (Oct. 11) when the Golden Eagles will compete at the Modesto Junior College tournament.
