Golden Eagles move to 2-0 in CVC with rout at Porterville
PORTERVILLE – Mykayle McCoy and Na'Jae Stevenson both recorded double-doubles to help lead Lemoore College to an 84-62 Central Valley Conference win at Porterville College on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles surged to their fifth straight win while improving to 9-7 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
The game was close heading into the break. Lemoore led 32-26 at halftime but then blew the game open in the second by overwhelming an undermanned Pirates team. The Golden Eagles had 15 players see action in the contest while Porterville suited up just six for the game. Lemoore outscored Porterville 52-36 over the final 20 minutes.
Five different Golden Eagles reached double figures in scoring against the Pirates with McCoy and Stevenson both pouring in 18 points each to lead their squad. McCoy earned his double-double with 13 rebounds while Stevenson grabbed 11 boards.
Davion Jackson had a solid game with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, Elijah Gomez contributed 11 points off the bench, and Taven Jenkins had 10 points.
Lemoore is back in action on Wednesday (Jan .14) when the Golden Eagles host College of the Sequoias in a 5 p.m. Central Valley Conference game.
