SAN JOSE – The Lemoore College men's basketball team put an end to a four-game losing streak after winning both its games at the San Jose City College Coach Carr Classic. The two-day event wrapped up on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles opened the tourney on Friday with a 95-72 victory over Hartnell College and followed that with a 73-64 win on Saturday against Monterey Peninsula College.
Lemoore 95, Hartnell 72
The Golden Eagles set the tone early, racing out to a 47–24 halftime advantage while holding the Panthers to just 24 points in the opening half.
Sophomore guard Mykayle McCoy led all scorers with 30 points, shooting 12-for-20 from the field while adding seven rebounds and seven assists. Forward Na'Jae Stevenson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Kason Smith contributed 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Davion Jackson also finished in double figures with 11 points, four assists and three steals.
Lemoore's depth played a key role, with Taven Jenkins providing eight points and nine assists off the bench. Tayshaun Tabbs added six points on a perfect 2-for-2 effort from beyond the arc.
Lemoore 73, Monterey Peninsula 64
The Golden Eagles held a narrow 36–33 lead at halftime before outscoring the Lobos 37–31 in the second half to seal the win.
McCoy led all players with 24 points, shooting 9-of-17 from the field and 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. He also grabbed nine rebounds and recorded two blocks. Stevenson was a force inside, finishing with 16 points and a game-high 19 rebounds, including eight offensive boards, while adding five blocks.
Braydin Samuels scored 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting and was perfect from the free-throw line (3-for-3). Davion Jackson contributed across the stat sheet with seven points, six assists, and three steals. Smith added five points, six rebounds, and two steals.
Lemoore improved to 4-6 overall with the two wins. The Golden Eagles return to action on Dec. 18 when they host Skyline College in a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
