Golden Eagles put up historic performance in home opener win over Palo Verde
LEMOORE – Led by a 37-point outburst from Mckayle McCoy, the Lemoore College men's basketball team scored a school-record 116 points on its way to a huge 116-82 rout over visiting Palo Verde College on Thursday in the Golden Eagles' home opener.
Lemoore shot an impressive 65 percent from the field (43 for 66), sinking 43 shots with just two coming from three-point range. 28 points also came via free throw (28 for 32).
McCoy posted a double-double as part of his big game. He grabbed 11 rebounds and shot 15 for 19 for the game and was 6 for 7 from the free throw line. McCoy also added 5 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.
Na'Jae Stevenson and Jason Russ also had a double-doubles in the historic victory. Stevenson had 16 points and 10 boards while Russ came off the bench to put up 16 points and pull down 10 rebounds.
Kason Smith added 14 points and Braydin Samuels contributed 12 points.
With the win, Lemoore evened up its overall record at 2-2. The Golden Eagles are back in action at the Porterville College Milt Stowe Classic on Nov. 21-22.
