A tough weekend for the Golden Eagles on the scoreboard and physically. West Hills started the weekend off vs host Mt SAC ranked currently at #2 in the Nation by the NSCAA. In just 23 seconds starting center back Hernan Trevino fell to the ground with an apparent knee injury. Just 2 minutes later a shot that was blocked by Bryce Aguilar was determined by the center official as a hand ball in the box. Mt SAC converted the kick and was off to a fast start. At the half it was 2-0 and the Eagles picked up another injured starting player with Eric Ledezma out with a hip flexor strain. The Eagles did not go quietly in to the Los Angeles sunset converting a penalty of their own 5 minutes into the 2nd half. It was Stacy Gomez who stepped up and scored his 3rd goal of the season. Mt SAC did not waiver and was able to score two more to secure the victory and the West Hills College defeat.
West Hills woke up on Sunday assessing the team and found Keven Basurto also out with a knee injury and Jason Ruiz suffering from leg spasms. West Hills would concede 2 goals again before half and could not find a rhythm as Rio Hondo pressured them into costly mistakes. Rio's last goal was a corner kick that bounced out to a central midfielder who struck the ball well and just out of Miguel Duran's reach.
West Hills Lemoore will look to bounce back as the host their first home match Tuesday September 5th at 4pm vs Allan Hancock College.
